Cupping
What Is Cupping?
Cupping is a type of alternative medicine in which traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioners place cups on the skin to create suction. The suction promotes blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This provides relief for chronic pain such as neck, shoulder or back pain. Patients may experience visible short-term bruise-like marks on their skin from treatment. These marks occurred are due to broken blood vessels just beneath patient skin, but they will fade away after sometimes. Cupping therapy is popular in Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. Several international athletes have also tried this treatment in recent years.
What To Expect at Your Cupping Therapy?
TDMall does offer cupping therapy as one of its TCM services. TDMall therapist will briefly heat the cups first with fire so that the cups can be suctioned on the patient skin. Next, the heated cups are then placed with the open side on patient skin. This therapy can be provided in conjunction with acupuncture treatment or remedial massage, depending on diagnosis outcome and treatment plan for individuals.
Is Cupping Therapy Safe?
This therapy is considered safe as long as it is performed by skilled practitioners. Patients may experience some circular discolorations on their skin, which will fade away after a few days or weeks.
